No Real Rock and Rolla

I have been waiting for the Real Rock n Rolla coming out as I think the first one was superb.

Well…..

The film will be made no longer if reports are to be believed. There are mumbles that the film did not make enough money to make a second.

There will be more on this in the future…..

The Taking of Pelham 123 Reviewed

This sees Denzel Washington and John Travolta team up in this remake of a 1974 adaptation that was remade in 1998.  This sees John Travolta as Ryder the peron who take Pelham 123 and 18 hostages on board while Denzel Washington plays Garber who plays the Rail Control Center who was demoted after allegation of bribery.

This film sees the tussle of power between Garber and Ryder. This is a brilliant film that is sees a brilliant team up between Washington and Travolta. This film was never going to get anyone an academy award but this is a film that may be was over looked.

As the story enfolds we see that Ryder demands 10 million dollars with a deadline of 60 minutes. This deadline is hard to keep and there are scraps along the way for the police and Garber. During the hostage situation one of the hostages has a laptop which is able to broadcast the whole of the situation live to the millions and this is what brings in the views and glamorizes the hostage take over. in the long run even though Ryder does not know this it helps him along the route to what he is after achieving.

I dont want to give this film away as I think that it is a easy watch and does not take much thought process to see the bigger picture and who saved who.

I would fully recommend this film and I rate it 9 out of 10.

Sequels in 2010

I was going to just go on about the best 10 of 2010 but I decided against it after all the sequels that are coming out. I am going to break stuff down and do different films to watch in 2010 which are sequels and here we are.

1. Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps – Wall Street 2 is the sequel to the original 1987 film staring Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko who has just been released from prison. This film includes the likes of Shia LaBeouf, Josh Brolin, Carey Mulligan, and Frank Langella. This film sees Gekko as the anti-hero in this movie that centers around the stock market crash of 2008. Gekko tries to help Wall Street before the crash while trying to revive his relationship with his daughter Winnie.

This film has some house hold names which means that it could be one of the better films of the year. The only problem for me is whether Michal Douglas is too old of this role. I suppose only time will tell.

2. Iron Man 2 - This is the second in the trilogy which stars Robert Downey.Jr as a billionaire industrialist and master engineer, also known as Iron Man. The only synopsis about the film is below so enjoy.

The world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) is the armored superhero Iron Man. Under pressure from the government, the press, and the public to share his technology with the military, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armor because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle) at his side, Tony forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces.

I am eagerly awaiting this film as I really think it will be one of the best of the year. I loved the first one and think this one will be as good if not better.

3. Shrek Forever After - Shrek 4 The Final Chapter is supposed to be the final out of the franchise which sees all the original cast come together for the last.

In this it sees shrek become quite content with his life lets people get closer to him when really he wants to scare people away. Rumpelstiltskin comes to shrek and does a deal where he can have that back but when he signed the dead he goes into a different Far Far Away where the life Shrek lives is different and he needs to go back to his normal life the only problem he has is that Fiona, Donkey, and Puss have never met Shrek before so his task is so much harder.

I think original when the film was talked about there was much talk there would be a fifth but I think that the fourth could be too much never mind the fifth.

4. Sex and The City 2 - The second sex and the city has had more mention about if the original cast will be back in the film rather than what will be happening. There is very little plot line and there a lot of rumours being thrown about with what will happen in this one.

Personally I am not a fan of this film franchise and did not much enjoy it when I watched the first sex and the city. I am led to believe though that if you watched the series you would understand exactly and enjoy the film like it should of been enjoyed.

Well personally this is not a one I will watch but I think the missus will.

5. Toy Story 3 – This is the third and potentially final in this franchise as this sees the gang back together again in this fun for everyone pixar animation.

Everyone knows everyone so there is not much to tell as the original cast are back with a few more friendly faces to help out. The story goes as Andy is getting ready for college and his toys are getting prepares for the attic but with the excitement of andy going to college his toys get thrown out where they eventually end up in a child care pre school.

Woody and Buzz decide to take it upon themselves to everyone from destruction and escape. The only problem they face is when Buzz is damaged in one of the escape attempts. He is reset but turns into the Spanish version of Buzz Lightyear.

I personally cannot wait for this film to come out I really think that it will be one of the best of the year. Everyone loves Toy Story so we all like to see another one released. I think this will be the last though.

6. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – This is the third in a series of four romantic fantasy films that sees all the original cast come together to be part of this cult film. At present there is not much that has been said about how the film will be followed but the synopsis reads.

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death.

This film promises to be quite a superb film as the last two have been huge hits in the film industry. I reckon that this will be one of the films that at the end of 2010 everyone will be raving about this and they will be pushing to see the final episode.

7. Little Fockers – This could be one of the most surprising outfits of the year as all the cast were upset about certain roles that they have in the film. This is the reason why Dustin Hoffman has pulled out as he only had a small role at the end of the film. Apart from that it is a original cast line up which is really good.

There is once again not much to mention about this film if your after plot as they just go on about the fockers having twin girls that are five and they revolve the story about this. I really think that this could have sour grapes and even if it is a good film it will not be loved due to the pain that people have been put through just to get the cast together.

8. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 – There is really not much to tell about this sequel as it will follow the book but by how much. When ever a film comes out and says Part 1 you worry especially when it is not the first film in a series but the second last. Is this pinewood clutching at straws and trying to make more money out of it.

Well this is the sequels taken care of. Apart from this there is some others but really who wants to talk about Scream 4. That should of finished after Scream 1, honestly it should.

Star Trek 2009 Film Review

I must admit that I am a fan of Star Trek but not too much of fan for this film review. There are people out there who are trekys who go to meetings in different parts of America and dress up like there favorite stars.

Well when I first heard about this film coming out I was eager to see who was going to be who and whether it was going to be meet the hype that the film making has had. There have been speculation about the film as all the true fans have been very cautious as they will not like change. Everyone wants stuff the way it is but things have to change and this film for me has been very good.

This film sees the start and making of the team who were in charge of the USS Enterprise for the forth coming years. The film starts with the birth of Jim Kirk  in which we see the death of his father George Kirk (Chris Hemsworth) by saving the crew of a ship he was intrusted in for 12 minutes.

From this Jim Kirk is portayed as being a rebel kid who does not want to get into any sort of order or do anything with his life even though he is extremely bright and he should do really well. He as a young child runs his step fathers car off the road to show that he does not want to follow a proper order while being brought up without a real dad.

From this the film turns to spook who shows how he was brought up with the fact that his mother was human and his dad was vulcan. Spook was bullied througout school but he shows his human spirit, this for me a little bit odd for spook as throughout the tv series and films he was always stern faced and never showed much emotion. In this version the film shows a bit of a different approach from some of the cast members.

All the rest of the cast fall in to place as the film runs through. For instance Bones, Kirk meets this man on his first day in the academy. The other two famous crew area ready on the vestal but scotty comes aboard later on in the show when he is discovered in a far distant out post.

I am not going to give away what happened throughout the film as I think you will have a fair idea, but I really think it is a good film and that is why I am going to give it a rating of 8 out of 10

Obsessed (2009) Reviewed

This is a Steve Shill thriller film which sees Derek Charles played by Idris Elba who is newly promoted Executive Vice President who is happily married to Sharon Charles (Beyonce Knowles) and father to son Kyle.

Lisa Sheridan (Ali Larter) starts as a new temp who job is Personal assistant to who ever needs the help. On her first day she bumps into Derek Charles where he helps her pick her papers up that she has dropped. She believes there is a spark that has been lit between them and she decides to try and persuade him to leave his family for her. Lisa tries everything in her power to get her man but Derek tries to resist.

For me this film was a brilliant watch, yes ok some of the acting is questionable but to be honest the plot keeps this film running well. I really think that this is a prime example a b class movie with a all star class that has done really well.

Beyonce Knowles plays a brilliant part as a wife who is trying to make her own way in life then is thrown a problem when she finds out her husband could be cheating on her. She plays a simple role that does not require much thought from the singer turned actress but she pulls of this part very well and she manages with the emotional parts very well.

Ali Larter for me plays the best part, a women desperate to get what she wants and shows a evil side to do this. Ali played a very good role in Heroes as a evil heroes superbly well and has developed that into this part. I really believe that roles like this were designed for her, she reminds me of a potential Sharon Stone. Everything about what she does just seems to be brilliant, she could make a nun look evil.

I would rate this film a high 9/10.

I would recomend that you go and buy or rent this film.
